Nikita Frederick Feb. 4, 2008 - Feb 25, 2011 |
When our son Johnny heard that Nikita would not be coming to live at our house and that he was in heaven with Jesus - Johnny said, "Nikita will have a BETTER & BIGGER house in heaven!" Yes he will! Then Johnny said, "Now we can save somebody else!" And we are! It will be because of our sweet Nikita that we will rescue beautiful Sonya along with our precious Dusty.

Sonya is a little sweetheart whom we've been praying would find a forever family since seeing this picture and description (below) in November. We hated the thought of leaving her behind. We had talked in November about going back to get her if she did not find her Forever Family by this coming summer. We prayed and prayed that her forever family would find her and bring her home soon. Especially because of her heart condition.
God answered our prayers and WE want to become her forever family. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 Sonya will not be replacing Nikita, but she will be another “arrow in our quiver” and we are thrilled. We hold on to the fact that counting "our son" Nikita we will ultimately be rescuing three orphans. We also look forward to the day that we will meet Nikita Frederick in Heaven to live forever and ever in that beautiful mansion Christ has prepared for us.
Thank you for all of your touching comments, beautiful thoughts and loving prayers, as well as, the thoughtful blog and facebook posts about our Sweet Nikita. We are touched and comforted by all of them! Your support and friendships are such a blessing to our family and extended family. We will still grieve... but as we said here - it is because of what Christ did for us that we are not hopeless! Please continue to pray for Dusty, Sonya, our family and extended family as we expand our "quiver!"
The Winkles and the Lococo families visited with Sonya in December 2010. Here are some pictures and comments from their time together. |
Sonya and her Nanny played and sang songs. She would smile so BIG when the Nanny would rub her palms together (part of the song). |
She was also counting and Sonya would put down her fingers as the nanny said the numbers!! |
Sonya was playing with the small stacking rings and was doing very well lining up the small holes. She would wrinkle her nose as she was trying. |
We waved and said, "paka" and she smiled and waved!! Oh my heart!! |
Aren't these pictures just priceless?! We are so thankful to the many people who have prayed for Sonya! We can't wait to add "another arrow" and bring her home with Dusty. Finally, we would like to share just ONE of the many touching comments from our post: Nikita Frederick - In the Arms of Jesus
Linnea said... I am so sorry. I have no idea how you are feeling. This is tragic. Awful. I pray that God helps you to grieve and your children as well. Allow yourself to grieve like a mother who lost her child because you did. We had a failed adoption which is in no way the same as what you are going through but our family grieved and people didn't understand, how could we grieve we had never met her. People dont understand but God does and He is there for you. I pray He gives you strength and one day He will turn your mourning into dancing.
Be blessed

Dear Ashlee,
In His Name and In His Service,
The Hinz family and extended family
Oh I so happy. I've been down all day. And then to see that out of the ashes of your tragedy - another little one gets life - freedom - family - Oh Praise the Lord. He most certainly is good!
ReplyDeleteHello Hinz Family!
ReplyDeleteLet me introduce myself. You probably don't know who I am. My name is Caleb. My family adopted Julia/Jenny from orphanage 3. I met sonya only for a few moments, but I got to see her long enough to see what a blessing she truly is. I have been praying so hard someone would bring her home! You have made my DAYYY! THANK YOU BEYOND MUCH!
If you'd like to follow my other advocacies, you can go to www.speaking4thesilent.blogspot.com
THANK YOU AGAIN BEYOND MUCH!
Dear Amy & Family,
ReplyDeleteWE ARE SO HAPPY, EXCITED AND THRILLED. Our family is just so over the top happy for you and Sonya. This is an answer to many, many prayers. We will continue to pray for your family as you heal from the loss of Nikita. We will be praying for a safe and smooth trip to bring home Dusty and Sonya. Now that so many of the childen from Orphanage #3 are here in America, wouldn't it be wonderful to have a reunion? I'll plan it :)
Congratulations on your new daughter! What a blessing that you have opened your hearts, amidst a challenging time, to welcome beautiful S to your family.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you from an hour south in VA!
I am sobbing like a baby over here. We have been in love with Sonya for months but knew we could not reach her fast enough, you have no idea how much it means to me to know that she has I home. We just found out today that April 15th is the day we close on our house and we will be able to start our process but we are so extremely greatful that she doesn't have to wait another minute and risk being transfered, god bless you for that. I am still extremely sorry for your loss and your family is very much in my prayers and I cannot wait to see Sonya (and Dusty too!) come home!.
ReplyDeleteI am smiling through teary eyes at this news - so glad for you, and so happy for little Sonya -what a sweetie! Your journey to her has been so bittersweet, but hearts become more tender that way...
ReplyDeleteWhat a thoughtful boy Johnny is - what a sweet and insightful comment. Many could learn from him.
Dusty's ornament was on my tree this Christmas - I will be so thankful when he's home with you and receiving all the love and care he deserves. Like Sonya, he will thrive in your family - adoption brings blessings all around.
Very best wishes,
Susan in Ky
Cousin to Two from U.
While I know you are still sad that Nikita won't be coming home with you, I'm so glad that Sonya will be!
ReplyDeleteWe are so sad for your loss. I know that this must be very hard for you guys. I am happy to see that you guys have decided to bring home another baby girl. We adopted 3 babies from the Ukraine last yr at Christmas. We have been truly blessed and are so happy. I cant wait to follow your journey in bringing these babies home!! God Bless you and your family!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you and for Sonya. Praying for you and your family as you grieve for Nikita. I'm so glad you were able to see past your pain and bring her home too.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! Nikita touched more lives that he'll ever know... and he saved Sonya too! He is safe in the arms of Jesus now, but will always be a part of your family.
ReplyDeleteI am SO GRATEFUL to God for working another miracle! While I am sorry for the loss of your sweet Nikita, I am thrilled for Sonya and your family. She has been on my heart and constantly in my prayers ever since I first "met" her when I was introduced to RR last fall. My own son with D.S. looks so much like her and is her same age, with his birthday in August, only 2 months older. Anyway, I look forward to following your blog and seeing pictures of all of your family together. I'll continue to keep you in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteI have been praying for Sonya to find a family for a while now. I told the Lord that I would even add her to our crew, but He didn't move my husband's heart. I was crushed and didn't understand. I questioned God-"Lord here I am willing to bring her into our home so she can have the love of two parents, WHY won't you move my husband?? Now I see why.
ReplyDeleteThis Christmas I asked that I not receive any presents and instead be given money so that I could give to children in need. She was one that I donated to. I am REJOICING that she will know the love of a family.
THANK YOU for stepping up. I hate that Nikita never knew your family, but yes, being in God's presence FOREVER is so much more awesome right now- no tears, no pain!!
God bless!!!!!
Sonya is a gorgeous little girl! Thanks to beautiful Nikita, Dusty and Sonya will get a family too. Nikita is looking after them from heaven!

ReplyDeleteP.s. heres my bloglink http://savealittlelife.blogspot.com/
so sorry for your loss, but so happy for Sonya.
ReplyDeleteHello, Amy and family!
ReplyDeleteFirst, let me just say that this is mixed emotions as mixed as they come. I am so sorry for your loss, and deeply saddened that little Nikita never will be a part of your family.
Then again, I am beyond words happy for Sonya! So, so thrilled that this little gem of a girl can be rescued before she is sent to the institution. I have been praying for her since she appeared on the RR listings and she has my heart in her tiny hands... and I'm over the moon right now.
If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know :)
Helle
You are very welcome! I'm more than happy to help! & thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my friend. How amazing. I just KNEW in my heart that she would be your daughter. I am in awe of how God works things out. How He has gently led and guided you on this painful road. He is so good.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty you have found. She is ADORABLE!
Wow.
YAY!!!!!!!!! This just made my day!!!! Sonya has been on my prayer list and on my blog. Congratulations!!!!
ReplyDeleteTheresa
I am so happy for you. Prayers and hugs! Soon your children will be in your arms and you will write, They have turned my mourning into joyful dancing." I just know it!

Ashlee
I was so sorry to hear about Nikita, but tonight so glad for you and Sonya (and Dusty!).
ReplyDeleteI am in tears again following your journey. So happy for Sonya and for your family she is adorable! Can't wait for you to have them both home.
ReplyDeleteRochelle (in process to bring Dariya home via RR)
I know you are probably sick of me mentioning that my family lives so near to you all, but now I am even more excited about it! Sonya was my younger son's Christmas Stocking Angel and one of my faves as well. So, I am THRILLED that she will have a family and that she will live in "The Burg". I am still so sad for you all that you lost Nikita, but ecstatic that you are moving forward and bringing Sonya home too.
ReplyDeleteSo excited to follow your journey to bring these angels home. Nikita could have no greater purpose here on earth than to help bring another angel home.
ReplyDeleteOh you guys, this is just great!!! I am so happy for ALL of you. Thank you Jesus! Rick and I will be thinking of you all and praying little Dusty and Sonya all the way HOME! Blessings to your sweet family.
ReplyDeleteThat first pic of Sonya, the one where she looks sad and someone is trying to make her smile for the picture by playing with a ball, broke my heart many months ago. She has always been one that I have prayed for and loved. I can't tell you how much joy it brings me to know that she has a family coming for her - your family - THANK YOU! God bless you on your journey; I will certainly be watching and supporting you in prayer.
