If You Give A Child A Cookie…

 Johnny and Carolyn love the story “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie” by Laura Numeroff.  We look forward to reading it to Sonya and AJ!  Then perhaps we can work backward, making the connections with our days together at the orphanage.

It has been interesting to see how Sonya and AJ have reacted to a cookie.  Recently we’ve been spoiling them with one (or more) each time we visit.  Sonya reacts the same way each time she is offered a cookie.  BIG smiles!  AJ is getting used to these tasty treats and his reaction is beginning to change for the better.     

These are precious times that we pray are building bonds between us.  It is ironic the connections that a simple cookie can make; just a gesture of love that we pray leads to everlasting familial bonds and eventual connections with God who gives us everything!  This is our prayer, but for now, a cookie is a great place to start…

    AJ's expressions in this photo are so funny. In the first photo he looks like he is seriously studying this strange thing called cookie. And as we scroll down, he seems to enjoy it more and more. Too cute!

  3. I love seeing the pictures of Sonya and Dusty! I was very happy to see Dusty with a smile on his face as all his pictures have been of a somber Dusty. I am sure your cookies are building bonds, I can see it on their beautiful faces!

  4. This is GREAT! The kids are definitely lovin Mommy and Daddy and the cookies look like an added bonus! They are already looking millions of times more lively to me, and Gotcha Day hasn't even happened yet!

    On that note, CANNOT WAIT ;)

    I love seeing their smiles, especially AJ's! He doesn't seem to smile much in the pictures I've seen, but I think you've won him over! Only 2 more weeks and then you'll be able to head home and begin your lives as a family of 6. God Bless You all as you continue on your journey! Looking forward to meeting them!

  7. It's so great to see how their faces have changed over the weeks you have been there. AJ really has such a wonderful smile and we're glad to finally get to see it captured in a picture! Sonya, as always, is just a doll and her face really lights up when she smiles! Enjoy all these precious moments! What a lifetime of memories you have already made! Happy birthday to Johnny tomorrow and Happy Mother's Day on Sunday - hope you get to spend it with all 4 of your kids at some point! We're praying for you all! - The Millers

  8. I can't believe how much AJ has changed just since you've been there, he is already blossoming right before our eyes! I had a dream about him the other night...in the dream he was "Dusty" and he was being adopted with another little boy (I didn't connect the dots at the time but maybe it was supposed to be Nikita). I don't remember all the details but I remember he was so much bigger (in size) in my dream than I thought he would be!

    From our human point of view we wonder about the connections being made in this world. But from God's point of view He has made His connection with them already as you have shared HIs love with your children in Word and deed. Soon He will seal His connection with Sonya and Dusty in His "gotcha" through water and the Word.
