Nikita Frederick - In The Arms Of Jesus

Dear Nikita,
       
You stole our hearts.  You looked like your soon to be brother, Johnny, and sister Carolyn. You were lifted up in prayer constantly. You are LOVED. You are MISSED.  You no longer have Lukemia.  You are Happy. You are now in the arms of Jesus!


     
We grieve - not for you but for us!  We never got the chance to hold you.  We never got to kiss your sweet face.  We never got to tell you how much we love you.  We never got to celebrate your birthday WITH you.  We never got to give you the bear we made. We never got to play with you.  We never got to clothe you, feed you, change you, or wipe your tears.  We never got to hear you laugh or see your smile.  We never got the chance to hear a judge tell us that you were our son, however in our hearts you will ALWAYS be our little boy.  You are an arrow in our quiver, Nikita Frederick.

We praise God that our grieving is not hopeless.  "so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life." Titus 3:7 Because of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who died on the cross to pay for our sins we know that some day we will spend eternity together!

Dear Friends and Family,
  
It started out as a wonderful day.  Johnny, Carolyn and I drove down to Richmond to get  the LAST papers Apostilled for the Dossier.  The children were excited.  They knew that all this paper work stuff getting finished meant that it was getting closer to getting both their brothers home!  While waiting for the Apostille seals - Carolyn was holding and kissing both pictures of her soon to be brothers saying, "Dusty, Niki, Dusty, Niki..."  over and over again.



Then we drove back to Fredericksburg with ALL of our documents for the dossier and met Daddy at Fed Ex!  We put them in an envelope and sent them off to Eastern Europe!  





It was later Friday evening when we received word that it was NOT Dusty who had Leukemia, but it was Nikita.  They had mixed the boys up.  Then we were told that Nikita had been in a coma for a couple of days and passed away that day - Friday, February 25, 2011.


We are thankful to so many people for their prayers of healing for our little guy.  Yes, everyone was praying for Dusty, however, God knew who had Leukemia and He heard the prayers.  We were hoping for healing - this side of heaven.  It was God's will that he be healed - in heaven.  We are not at all sorry that we decided to pursue adopting Nikita.  We do believe with all of our heart that it was what God wanted us to do.  Nikita's life and our efforts were not in vain.  It was because of our love for Nikita that we found and fell in love with Dusty.  


"We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."  Romans 8:28 

Thank you for your continued prayers for our growing family!  We love you and appreciate all of your support as we grieve and as we heal!

  16. No words of comfort or wisdom, so I will just say that I am praying for you during this time and asking Abba to comfort you as only He can do. Praying also that all who read this will understand the DIRE need for these children to be adopted, loved, wanted. Our efforts are NOT in vain, no matter how small they may seem. ONE life at a time...because EVERY child matters!

  19. Oh, I am so, so sad and sorry. What a precious boy he is. His picture always warmed my heart...though broke it knowing he so needed his family. You know that God allowed him to feel you your love. Right where he was. I have to think he saw the face of Jesus as innocent as he was. Your love was so real and so pure. I am sorry.

  29. Just found your blog through another blog. Unfortunately I know a little too well what you are experiencing right now. We were matched with a waiting child from Ethiopia in October. She had clubfoot and we were waiting to get word about when she would be having surgery and when we would get a court date. Just three weeks after we were matched with her we received the news that she had passed away from SIDS at only 7 months old. We then accepted a referral of a baby boy, who we later found out has since been diagnosed with Down Syndrome. We travel to meet him this weekend.

    Adoption is such a difficult, and emotionally draining process. I pray that God will comfort you during this tragic time and that you will be able to bring your other little boy home quickly.

  33. I am so sorry. I have no idea how you are feeling. This is tragic. Awful. I pray that God helps you to grieve and your children as well. Allow yourself to grieve like a mother who lost her child because you did. We had a failed adoption which is in no way the same as what you are going through but our family grieved and people didnt understand, how could we grieve we had never met her. People dont understand but God does and he is there for you. I pray He gives you strength and one day he will turn your mourning into dancing.
